Collection: Barrels

At Leka Trading, you can buy steel and plastic drums from 30 to 200 litres for storing oil, paint, liquids, animal feed and fertilisers. Most are new and UN-approved, with stock available at our warehouse in Bladel. Ordering larger quantities can reduce shipping costs per drum. Read on to choose between an open-top drum and a tight-head drum.

Buy plastic and steel drums for storage and transport

A drum, also known as a barrel, is a round, sealable container used to store and transport liquids and other materials. Our range includes 30, 60, 65, 120 and 200-litre drums made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or painted steel. The drums are available in blue, black or green and can be stacked. Most are new, while one 200-litre steel open-top drum is used and in as-new condition.

The most common size is the 200-litre drum. A plastic open-top drum of this capacity measures 580 x 990 mm and weighs 8 kg empty. A 200-litre steel drum measures 570 x 880 mm and weighs 18 kg empty. We do not stock drums of 300 or 1,000 litres. For larger volumes of liquid, a 1,000-litre IBC container is a more practical option.

Choose between open-top and tight-head drums

The type of opening determines how easily you can fill, empty and clean a drum. An open-top drum has a fully removable lid, making it suitable for thicker products such as paint, animal feed and fertilisers. Plastic open-top drums, also called wide-neck drums, close with an aluminium clamping ring. The smaller 30, 60 and 120-litre sizes have handles for easier handling.

  • A tight-head drum has a permanently closed top with openings for filling and emptying. The 200-litre plastic tight-head drum features an L-ring.
  • We also offer a used 200-litre steel open-top drum in as-new condition. This is the most economical steel option in the range.

Plastic or steel for your application

Plastic drums are lightweight, ranging from 2 kg for a 30-litre drum to 8 kg for a 200-litre model. They are available in blue. Steel drums are heavier, weighing from 3 kg at 30 litres to 18 kg at 200 litres, and have a painted finish in blue, black or green.

Most drums in both materials have UN approval, which is required when transporting dangerous goods. Check that the approval of the specific drum is suitable for the substance you intend to transport.

For food applications, only the 120-litre steel tight-head drum is suitable. The other drums are intended for products such as oil, paint, liquids, animal feed and fertilisers.

For larger quantities of dry bulk materials, such as granules or pellets, a 500 to 700-litre plastic pallet box can be more practical than using several separate drums.

Order on a working day before 5 pm Dutch time, and if everything is in stock, we will dispatch your order the following day. We deliver to 13 European countries, including the UK and Ireland. All prices exclude VAT.

Shipping costs are calculated per pallet space. This makes ordering multiple drums more economical: eight 200-litre drums can be shipped for the same rate, as can fifteen 120-litre drums or 44 to 48 drums of 30 litres.
